So it has been a couple of months...why not start up with a topic that is somewhat renewing (I will be doing more blogs...I promise) like spring cleaning.
I have titled this weekend as "Spring Cleaning" as it is the last weekend until approximately October that I have absolutely nothing going on. The goal is to get as much as the house cleaned, picked up, organized, etc as possible and I thought I would share some good products used today to help get the house back in shape. To begin....
"The Shark": Sometimes a mop, bucket, vinegar and water can get pretty cluttered and annoying, pulling those around the house with you. Well, the other day Graham asked people for some suggestions to clean the mud from the puppies paws off the floor and the suggested product was "The Shark" - and I couldn't thank them enough for the suggestion. The Shark is great because rather than using chemicals and lugging around all the supplies to clean the floor, it is one vacuum cleaner looking object that uses steam to get the dirt off the floor. Its a mop on steroids and it is one very convenient way to get hardwood and tile floors cleaned.
The Dyson "Animal": Point blank, it is a mammoth of a vacuum and picks up more puppy hair than you can imagine! You can take it a part and reach the highest parts of the walls and it also gets in tiny little cracks. It is magnificent.
The Bissel "Pro Heat 2x": Do you have any carpet/rugs in your house? If so, you want this product. It basically steams your carpets clean with products you put in it (We use Bissel Pet and Odor cleaner). If you vacuum your carpet first then use this machine, it is amazing the steam clean that will happen. It takes away the spots (for us, the pet stains) that you didn't think would ever come out of the carpet and makes the room smell so fresh! Definitely recommended!
Pledge "Fabric Sweeper for Pet Hair": Ok, a main problem in our house is pet hair (we have 3 puppies...yes, we are crazy, but they are cute!) and when you have a brand new WHITE couch, it definitely is a worry and hassle to keep clean. One product Graham and I found to work exceptionally well is the Pledge "Fabric Sweeper for Pet Hair." It is a product, much like a lint roller, but instead of using sticky tape, it has fabric rollers that rub against each other, picking up the dust and hair as it rolls. Recently, it has been on clearance at Target so hopefully it has not had its last days!
Pledge "Multi Surface Everyday Cleaner": This product is great for dust. Not only is it alright to use on many surfaces (granite, metal, wood, glass and electronics) for a great clean, it is seemingly unbeatable for dust.
"Lemi Shine": Do you dishes come out with a white looking film on them? That is because some dishwashing detergents recently removed the product that helped keep the film away. If you combine half Lemi Shine with half Cascade (has to be Cascade, not Cascade Complete) in the detergent holder, after a few washes your dishes will come out spotless.
Simple Solution "Stain and Odor Remover": Easy spot cleaning for dog messes on hardwood floors. This product helps reduce odors and stains so puppies don't come back and smell their "leftovers" and want to add to it again. It helps kill the smell for good! This product has a sister product great for spot care for carpets.
Woolite "Pet + Oxygen": Another great spot treatment for puppy messes on carpets. It uses the power of the product plus oxygen to help remove stains in carpets.
Windex "Multi Surface, Antibacterial": I love products that not only are great cleaners, but also kill bacteria in their cleaning. So many products out there are great for surfaces, but they don't add the power of an antibacterial to help clean it even further. This is a great combination of both a great surface cleaner (Of course, made by Windex) for appearance, but killing germs at the same time. Another bonus, it doesn't leave streaks on the granite countertop or chrome fridgerator.
"Invisible Glass": I love windex (see above), but this window and glass cleaner can't be beat. Originally we found it to clean Graham's cars, but now it has become our household glass cleaner.
Sprayway "Stainless Steel": This is the best stainless steal cleaner around...at least in my opinion. Literately, no streaks left on appliances. And a bonus, "The people of Sprayway support breast cancer research with a donation from this purchase" - can't beat that!
Lysol "Dual Action Disinfecting Wipes": For quick clean, these wipes work wonders. They are two sided, 1 side for scrubbing and 1 side for rubbing. They are also antibacterial so you know what your wiping down are actually getting a good clean.
Dawn "Direct Foam": I have tried so many products for dishes that are soaking in the sink but nothing has worked better than Direct Foam. It doesn't matter if it is macaroni and cheese, greek yogurt, cake batter, or a skillet that you grilled on, Direct Foam will get the toughest grime off the dishes before the dishwasher. Also, it is very gentle on my hands when I use it to wash them.
I obviously am no cleaning product connoisseur, but these are the products I have found to work great to clean our house. And just so everyone knows, these reviews are my opinion and my opinion only. I do not represent any brands and am not responsible for products not working the way they have worked at my house.
Happy Spring Cleaning!
